The streets were vibrating. Drums, horns, voices. They were all layered on top of each other like rhythm stacked on rhythm. I turned and this scene opened up in front of me. You see masked dancers in neon fringe, a trumpet cutting through the noise, people leaning out of windows to catch it all. It wasn’t a performance for tourists. It was something older, louder, and rooted.
